Join us for a rare conversation with the co-founders of ist publishing, an experimental press at the heart of Ukraine’s contemporary visual art scene. The event will feature two members of the Kyiv-based collective, publisher Anastasia Leonova and literary critic Kateryna Nosko. The discussion will include artist Giles Bailey, UK publisher of TALKER, an interview zine on performance. The panel will explore the role of the art press and why it matters in times of permanent crisis.
Since the February 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Putin’s military and mercenary armies, ist has not only continued to operate inside the country, but has published work that captures the ingenuity and exhaustion of a generation of Ukrainian artists shaped by war. Leonova and Nosko will reflect on what it means to run an independent press that refuses to compromise its anti-authoritarian political and aesthetic commitments in the face of Russian…
